Awaken
|
Awaken is our big annual event, hosted towards the end of the Spring Semester. Our goal with Awaken, is to both mourn those who have committed suicide, and celebrate the lives of those who are still with us living with a mental illness, and other similar struggles. This event calls for a lot of performers, speakers, and other activities to help show everyone that there is a huge community of understanding people willing to help fight with them. |
Keep Calm and Study On
Keep Calm and Study On is an event that happens each semester. The event is normally held the last week of the semester, or finals week. This event features things to help people fell less stressed, such as making their own stress balls, coloring, or sometimes even getting to hang out with a service dog. The goal of Keep Calm is to give everyone a chance to destress a little bit before/during finals, as well as give people access to mental illness, and wellness resources. Keep Calm normally takes place in the 3rd floor of Baker Center

To Write Love On Her Arms (TWOLHA)
|
To quote from the TWLOHA website, "To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery." For our TWLOHA, which typically takes place in the Fall semester, BSPC tables around campus and write encouraging messages on people's arms to show them that they are loved and not alone. We also try to spread as many resources as possible about depression, and other mental illnesses.

Fears vs Dreams
Fears vs Dreams is a smaller, yet still important event that takes place annually. This event typically takes place during another event (such as Keep Calm and Study On, or Awaken). At Fears vs Dreams, participants write out their biggest fear, and their biggest dream. This event helps to show everyone that many times, our biggest fears are similar, thus we are not alone. It also helps everyone show the world what their ultimate goal is. This event helps to show everyone that what you someone aspires for, or fears may not show on the outside, but inside, everyone is afraid of something, and aspiring towards something.
